Location: Leonardtown, Maryland
Designer: MORTAR & ink / Eileen Tennor
For this new park overlooking Breton Bay on the Potomac River, MORTAR & ink developed a series of eight outdoor interpretive exhibits on the natural and cultural history of the waterfront at Leonardtown. Employing historic photos and custom illustrations the exhibits focus on three themes: the three-hundred-year history of the Wharf as the town's connection to the outside world; the importance of the park's rehabilitated marsh habitat; and the redevelopment of the entire site over a span of seven years to both comply with Maryland's Critical Area legislation and transform a derelict property into a beautiful public amenity.
"I love working with KVO! Your attitude is always so positive: "Oh, yeah. We can get that done." And the products are beautiful. Thank you, thank you, thank you."
